Horned Dorset Kitchen’s Original Cheese Souffle Dip
And a fantastic one it is! This project was for a logo and package design for a new product. The Horned Dorset Inn is the quintessential destination for memorable fine dining and lodging in Central New York State. Classical and contemporary French cuisine using the finest organic, local and international ingredients, attentive service, and gracious Victorian accommodations are the hallmarks of this countryside hostelry. It has been lovingly managed by the same family for over 40 years.
This came to me though my chef friend, Johnny Iuzzini. He knows Aaron the chef (and owner) of the Horned Dorset Inn. Aaron was looking to launch a product to stock in stores of one of the favorite items on The Horned Dorset menu. Because of the busy restaurant, we worked on this for almost a year. They were great clients and for the most part let me do my thing. Since there were plans to also offer other flavors down the road, I wanted to create a design that we could just swap out the text and the colors. Keeping the design the same and a continuity of all flavors as they would sit side-by-side on the store shelf and yet stood apart and were easily recognizable. I was also happy they weren’t interested in a “heritage” or old fashioned design since I feel that is the standard aesthetic for this type of product. Overall, I really like the design and can’t wait to see the final package on my local grocery store shelf.
A side note, The Horned Dorset is coincidentally located very near were I was born and where most of my family were born, raised and still reside. I knew right where they were located!
